How Does DTF Printing Work?
Need help with training or do you have just general questions about DTF printers?
What's the Difference Between DTF and DTG Printing?
The key strength over high-end DTG machines is the parallel assembly of DTF Transfers to garments. With those machines, the operator must stand constantly in front of the DTG machine, ensuring each shirt is perfectly flat, resulting in a lot of idle time spent waiting for the machine to print.
The DTF process is different as the print function is separate from the application function. So, you don't have to bring the shirt to the machine. Instead, you bring the image to as many shirts as you want.
Additionally, DTF transfers make it easy to apply to hard-to-print areas like tags, shirt sleeves and unique shaped garments.

What is Difference between DTF and Vinyl Cutting?
Heat Transfer Vinyl is one of the most popular ways to customize apparel due to its low cost of entry, but this does come with some downfalls as you probably already know. The two biggest frustrations for business owners that when using vinyl for transfer production are manual post-print work (i.e. weeding) and multi-color designs. Any time material is processed through a cutting plotter the unwanted material must be removed before the transfer is ready for its final production step. Further, if you have a 2,3 or more color design, this step must be done for each color. This literally doubles, triples or more the work for each final product.
One popular method of customizing vinyl is with a Print & Cut System. These bring a digital print aspect to vinyl cutting, but do not eliminate the need for weeding the post-print product. This process is generally painstakingly slow and very expensive, which often puts business owners in a position to upgrade technology quickly. Print and Cut is a great technology, but it is not the answer for high-speed & high-production shops.
Benefits of DTF v Screen Printing
Full-digital prints for raster and vector graphics
Read-to-transfer prints (no masking or dry time before press)
No weeding at all
Improved hand and washability compared to print & cut
Significantly faster production time
Reduced waste and lower production costs
What is Difference Between DTF and Screen Printing?
Screen Printing has been a key profit and production generator for a long time in the customization business. As the industry and consumer expectations evolve, so do the challenges in screen printing. One of the biggest challenges screen printers face today is hiring staff to manage a production facility. Not only is it expensive, but screen printing requires many months of training to master all of the steps. This is one of the main reasons why screen print shops are moving to DTF, they can hire and start producing faster than ever.
Screen printing also comes with a lot of painstaking steps and large messes. Cans of chemicals and waste are used in facilities that are becoming more expensive to dispose and less popular with an environmental focus. DTF offers a solution with minimal waste and minimal use of hazardous materials. .
